The University of Florida College of the Arts (COTA) graduate research award empowers students to pursue research activities, develop as musicians and/or music educators, and connect with others in the field.
Students in UF’s online Master of Music in Music Education program can apply for this award to help cover expenses related to attending and presenting at conferences, conducting fieldwork, and other forms of professional development.
This award can be applied to a variety of professional activities. Students have previously leveraged the graduate research award to perform in an opera in Italy as well as present at national and international conferences held by the organizations such as the National Association for Music Education, the International Society for the Philosophy of Music Education, and the Society for Music Teacher Education.
Current students can start the application process for this award by clicking here. If you are approved for the award, you will receive notification from COTA within two weeks. Award amounts vary by the location and time spent. However, they often fall within the following ranges:
All interested students are encouraged to apply for the award. While highest funding priority is typically given to students who have received invitations to give major presentations or those in the final year of their programs, UF is committed to supporting professional development as much as possible.
All award applications and travel authorizations must be made prior to travel. The University of Florida is not able to make retroactive reimbursements.
